History

La Grange was first constructed in 1898, and used as a simple country barn for the next 75 years. In the late 1970’s, the property was purchased and the barn was transformed into a dream house -- an incredible post-and-beam mansion full of character and history. La Grange was born in 2001, when the mansion was converted into a four-star B&B with all the modern conveniences of the 21 st century.

In December 2003, newlyweds Adam and Sari, both born and raised in Toronto, were vacationing in and around Ottawa. They immediately fell in love with the beauty and tranquility of the town of Wakefield, the Gatineau Park, and La Grange. With few reservations, they decided to leave the rat race behind and follow their dreams of running a bed and breakfast and yoga studio in the country.

Your Hosts, Adam & Sari
(& Gabriel)

Before becoming the proprietor of La Grange, Adam travelled the world, and then practiced law for several years in Toronto while daydreaming of lakes and sunsets. Adam has always been an avid outdoor adventurer, and once spent a summer leading guided bicycle trips in Europe with the luxury tour company Butterfield & Robinson. His passions for unique travel destinations, meeting new people, and the great outdoors are finally being realized at La Grange.

You may not see as much of Sari, Adam’s wife, as she works full-time at the Royal Ottawa Hospital. Around La Grange, though, Sari can often be found caring for Gabriel, playing with Chilli, and teaching yoga in the upstairs studio, Yoga à La Grange.
